OUR WORK
creative vision with a bite!
With Hungry Monster, every project takes all our attention, care, and research. Nothing is routine. Everything is a challenge to discover the most powerful way to deliver results, leads, followers, sales. Here are some examples.
DESIGNING FOR HONOR AND SUPPORT
Challenge:
Mental Health treatment, with respect, for military vets.
Providing treatment for substance use, and emotional support for a proud and patriotic client base. Angular design with color in a flag palette meant to connect with need for structure, self-esteem, reinvigorated pride in service for country.
VISUAL BRANDING
Challenge:
A minimalist look, a warm atmosphere
The design issue on this new site for a psychotherapy practice was the client’s desire for a simple and minimalist look, yet enough richness to provide a warm and supporting atmosphere. The branding is therefore expressed in a curvilinear, wavelike design, with no stern geometric sectioning. Messaging is non-prescriptive: “you may find this…“ “Opens new avenues…” “find channels…”.
HOME PAGE REFRESH
Challenge:
Simplify, yet much to communicate.
As a network of physical therapy clinics, this client carried on a successful but complicated business. Hungry Monster found a home page stuffed with information, calls to action, clinic location… but needed a single takeaway. Solution: New design prioritized a single message, one prominent call to action, and a striking visual (in the form of a video). We used color, font choice, and placement to achieve focus.
LOGO DESIGN
Challenge:
A bumpy journey to inner peace
Produced for a therapist, the river name and logo was meant to suggest the calm but occasional turbulence of the journey towards emotional healing.
STORYTELLING
Challenge:
A different kind of appeal for donations
The Jewish Community Center (JCC) of Budapest, Hungary, emerged from a culture that had overcome historical anti-Semitism, the holocaust, then decades of oppressive Soviet-style communism. A run-of-the-mill appeal for sympathy and funds just wouldn’t do. Our solution focused on the story of a single family, members of the JCC. Its several generations had experienced each stage.
VIDEO MINI STORY
Challenge:
A fraught and empathic message
in half a minute
A tiny, 30 second video for Instagram, Snapchat or other social media. Don’t blink or you’ll miss a rather complex message: that our client understands and can uniquely provide support for the feelings of isolation of many returning military Vets. Solution: a fast-moving jump-cut of clips and stills. Clip is paced by original, commissioned contemporary music.
VIDEO STORY FOR INSTAGRAM
Challenge:
Serious and substantive video in an Instagram environment
30 second video reaching out to those struggling with substance use and behavioral issues. Challenge: to express understanding and sympathy in a very short piece, yet without appearing brusque. Accomplished using our Hungry Monster signature style: jump cut, captions only, no voiceover, striking visuals.
MEDICAL ARTICLE
Challenge:
Sympathy, without mincing words
During the pandemic, running was nearly the only sport available to active people. The result: overuse and injury. For this physical therapy clinic treating those injuries, a dry and objective advice column just didn’t cut it. Solution: speak directly and sympathetically to the prospective patient, yet with reassuring authority. And plenty of photos of people happily returned to their favorite sport.
Within our design team our mantra is this:
Every color, every sentence, every bit of design says something.
We research. We reach out. We refuse to settle while helping you reach your goals...and your audience.
